Processed meat refers to any meat that has been salted, dried, fermented, smoked, or otherwise processed to enhance taste or prolong shelf life.
Most processed meat products contain pork or beef, but may also include other red meats, poultry, and meat by-products such as animal offal or blood, such as hot processed sausage dogs, ham, sausage, beef jerky, canned meat, cold cuts and sauces.
